What is the best way to secure a job with the major airlines?

Military or flight school? A friend told me a couple of days ago that joining the military is the best way to get into the major airlines like (Qantas) and + military pilots get thousands of flying hours + training for free. What do you think of this?

Thanks for reading :]

Major Airline? Is it really your only choice? AIrlines are horrible businesses. Look at all the financial problems they have. If they can’t make money, they can’t pay employees well, it is that simple. THe uncertainty makes it also a very tough place to work at.

Im in the same situation. I have done alot of reading and from what I have read, it depends on the company. If you want to fly with Qantas and still live at home, you could apply for the Qantas Cadet Pilot Program. They will employ you through one of their smaller sister companies upon completion of you CPL (ATPL) and monitor your progress through there.

The Military is my choice at the moment as you get all your certifications and you get a bunch of hours under your belt making you very desirable to Airlines. But 11.5 years is a long time!!
